Committee Meeting Update -

We had our annual committee meeting last night and I want to thank everyone for showing up.  We have some senior parents in some pretty vital jobs this season as well, so we are looking for some parents to come on board this year to help with those committees and look to take over them in the following seasons.  These jobs will not be too tough at all this season as you will just be helping out while you learn the ropes. More people always make less work.  Jons we need some people to learn for next year are:

Volunteer Coordinator - You will work with the coach and make sure all of the jobs for the home meets and invitationals are filled with parents.  This person also sets up the houses for the pasta dinners.  This job can be broken up between a couple people, but it is nice to have a central liason to oversee as well.  This is not as bad as it seems as it is more about organizing everyone else not doing all the jobs yourself.

Banquet Planning and Coordinator - We have two senior parents doing this year and we have always had pride in the quality of how we honor the kids on a season.  This is important and is like party planning where you set up the location, catering decorating and stuff like that.  We have it covered this year, so help out and see how we do it.

Snackbar Coordinator - This is an important job that needs a good organized person to take over.  We have a great person on staff right now, but as she graduates we really need some people to see the operation first hand this year so you are not re-inventing the wheel next year.  We have run these snackbars for many years now and most of the problems have been figured out.  Having 2-3 people take on this responisibility makes this a much easier job, but just like the volunteer coordinator, having one person that takes the lead is important as well.

Let us know if you would like to help out with any of these jobs this year.  For the most part, other than ASB finance we are coverd for this year, so helping out will make the work easier and more fun.  Come join us and help out behind the scenes of one of the best teams in San Diego. 

If you can't help out on a committee, remember we always need day of meet workers in the snackbar, at the computer/scoring table and equipment set up.  Find a way to get involved.

This is a general information meeting to go over the season for new and returning parents.  We can answer questions and give you an overview of how the season will run and what to expect.  Come join us and be informed.

 
Final Pre-Season Team Meeting
Tuesday February 14th - Pool Deck during Lunch - 12:45pm
Tryouts - Tuesday Feb 21- Friday Feb 24th
This is during the Winter Break.  Any swimmer not attending tryouts will automatically be placed on JV.  No swimmer will make the Varsity team team that is not at the tryouts.  
If you are planning on missing the tryouts, you may still be on the JV team, but you will need to complete all paperwork on Monday Feb 27th.  Do your best to plan any family trips for the first weekend of the break and be back by Tuesday.

In order to tryout, you must have your "ticket to play" and all paperwork regarding physicals and eligibility turned in by Wed Feb 15th.  If you are not on the list that gets printed before the school goes on break, than you are not allowed to swim during tryouts until the school opens back up and you can get cleared.  There are no exceptions to this rule.  If you cannot tryout you will be placed on JV as soon as you are cleared.
 
Spring Break
We will be training the early part of spring break with practices on April 2nd-4th.  Varsity athletes will be released for vacation by 12pm on Wednesday April 4th and you will have the 2nd half of the week for family vacation.  The MIssion Viejo Invitational is on Saturday March 31st for Varsity Athletes so please don't plan on any vacations through the first half of the spring break for sure if you are a varsity athlete.
 
Tuesday Meets
Our meets are on Tuesdays for the most part this year beginning March 13th.  We do have an occasional Friday meet in April.  Calendar whould be up soon with the full schedule.  Weekend Invitational Dates are:
 
MCHS Varsity Invite - March 17th - Varsity Swims, JV Works (Mandatory for JV to attend and work)
Mission Viejo Invitational - March 31st - Varsity Only
MCHS JV Invitational - April 28th - JV Swims, Varisty Works (Mandatory for Varsity to attend and work)
